It’s Just Me With WirePlayers Derby Dozen Volume III

Here’s Volume III of the WirePlayers Derby Dozen. Though we’re a little bummed Monday’s Southwest Stakes got cancelled, that just means Saturday is going to be even more jam-packed with Derby prep race action.

If you remember way back when In Derby Dozen Volume I, Lookin at Lucky had a commanding lead. But the lack of a defined prep race schedule allowed Buddy’s Saint to narrow the gap considerably. With only 3 points between them, they’re basically neck and neck. A win in Saturday’s Fountain of Youth Stakes will most certainly put Buddy over the top. But the Fountain of Youth will have the toughest field he’s faced to date, by far.

Can’t wait to watch, and bet!

Voting members of the Derby Dozen panel (these people live and breathe horse racing):
Rob from Amateurcapper
Brian from Railrunner
Carly Kaiser
Geno from EquiSpace
Jessica Paquette
The Turk
Dylan Jarmulowicz
The Zipster from Zipse at the Track
Norm from The Knight Sky Racing blog
Steve from WirePlayers.com

I’m still surprised that Super Saver is so far up the list, he’s been away from the races for a long time now.
I love the American Lion comments, very clever!!

    This list is sooo educational.

I’d bet Mr. Watchmaker never used the word Abeyance in his life. Not even once. ;-)

    WTF!

The more I watch and follow the Derby Trail this year the less I am impressed. The comments are spot on and only add to my growing angst with this group of relative “non-starters.” One reason to like Jackson Bend – at least he races more than once every other month!

Thanks Brian. I guess Super’s win on the dirt at Churchill combined w/ Borel is why he continues to be highly rated. He may drop in future votes as new prep stars emerge.

    TKS,
Ha, ha. The only reason I know what “abeyance” means is because I used to watch Judge Wapner on the People’s Court. Maybe Amcap did too.

The Derby Dozen voters do offer lots of insightful comments; especially that Norm guy. However, the comments from the Munday fella are mostly just nonsense.

The “Detroit Lion” line is a classic – thanks for the chuckle.

    Steve,

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout!!! Loved the counter-comments on ‘Lucky, Rule, ‘Saver, Caracortado, Conveyance dig at Jess Jackson, ‘Lion, and ‘Chrome!

Also, Carly (Caracortado) and Gene (American Lion) get big ups for those snarky remarks!

I’ve gotta step up my game!

    T_K_S,

BTW, abeyance i pulled out of my @$$ trying to rhyme w/ Conveyance…must have remembered it from junior high school grammar tests – thanks Mr. Campbell :-) !

    Tony Bada Bing,

Funny, the more I studied the TC Nominees the more I like it. Check back in two weeks, I’m sure I’ll be near where you are! One thing’s for certain, JACKSON BEND is honest, if not classy. Have to agree w/ Norm’s comment…he was wide and ran his eyeballs out against the one who would have been at least #2 going into the FOY. 1 1/8 miles is going to be his outer limit.

Looks like I won’t have to move up Eskendereya next week – since I already had him at #2!!!! And Crist steals my flirty Egyptian dance/bourka line… LOL.

Hey Geno, it’s no surprise Crist stole your line since I’m sure he follows the WirePlayers Derby Dozen closely :)
