Todd Pletcher figures to have six Derby entries; John Sadler, Bob Baffert, and Michael Maker all have two likely starters.  HOMEBOYKRIS holds down the 20th and last spot.  Maybe next week’s Lexington Stakes winner ($180K for 1st place) will have enough graded earnings to knock him out.  Can DROSSELMEYER get in done?.

Those routing against Homeboykris – must cheer home either Drosselmeyer or Connemara for the win in next week’s Lexington Stakes. If Schoolyard Dreams, goes he has a chance of knocking, the allowance losing 3-year-old, who really doesn’t belong.

    Tony,
I’d like to see Schoolyard give it a shot; maybe the Wood was a dud and he’s better than his distant 4th place finish.

It is amazing how much money is required to make the Derby this year. I believe Join the Dance made the field last year w/ $77K in earnings.

There are a few reasons for this:

besides Buddy’s Saint there have no major injuries from those winning 2yo stakes last year

except for Eskendereya there have not been any repeat winners of Derby preps, spreading the wealth around

first time stakes winners entering the list on six Derby preps: Line of David, Stately Victor, Dean’s Kitten, Endorsement, Ice Box and Mission Impazible

    Crazy year…
