WirePlayers Derby Dozen Volume VII
A single vote separates our top two Derby contenders with one legitimate graded prep race remaining (Saturday’s Lexington Stakes at Keeneland).Of Pletcher’s six likely Derby entrants, four made our illustrious Derby Dozen list. Though his 0-for-24 Derby record doesn’t bode well, he’s never had a horse dominate like ESKENDEREYA.
I don’t pretend to know for sure who’ll win, but one thing I know is that NBC will focus their Derby coverage on ESKENDEREYA and LUCKY. That is, when they’re not covering d-list celebs wearing funny hats and drinking mint juleps, and random “pageantry.” Which will leave viewers all the more perplexed if one of the 20-1 shots nobody ever heard of comes rolling home.
Oh well, if that 20-1 shot happens to be ENDORSEMENT, I know one guy who will be very, very happy.

I will be VERY (x1,000,000) happy. But 20-1? I wish, i’m expecting something like 9-1. If he is 20-1, I will put up my kidney on Ebay for Organs so fast…
I wonder where Rob got that “Taxi for Conveyance” idea. Maybe somewhere in the comments?

I’m sorry if my comment sounded like yours last week. With a family member in the hospital, I haven’t been able to read many comments. He went back in today and I’m trying to get my mind off it by getting involved in horse racing dialogue. Then I read your comment today.
I was disappointed to read that you suggested that I plagiarized your comment. Even if a joke, usually a half truth that you believe the statement. Just remember, the taxi comment has been in the game forever and a day and neither of us can take credit as the originator but can only offer our spin on it.

That was a fantastic comment for DUBLIN. He looked in the Arakansas Derby and the Southwest like he’d run right by the winners. I still think something’s amiss health-wise. I’m also waiting for a freshening for his best on dirt and for him to be reinvented on turf a la COURT VISION.

It was meant as a joke. I meant as more of a compliment that you found my silly little joke worthy enough to use as your comment. Not about plagarizing, not even close. There was not even a half truth to it. I wouldn’t care if someone plagarized some pithy little comment like that one. I apologize if i have caused you unnecessary grief during your trying time.

Thnx for the compliments everyone! It’s been a blast tracking the Derby contenders and trading opinions and a few wisecracks here and there. BTW, I almost fell out of my chair when I first read Turk’s comment.

Glad to see that Lookin At Lucky and Eskendereya aren’t separated by that much in the voting. If I’d gotten mine in on time they would have been tied! (:
