One of my favorite turf races of the year is the $500K Grade 1 Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga.  Brian Appleton wrote a nice preview of the Sword Dancer on his Rail Runner blog.  Check it out here:

My most vivid memory of the Sword Dancer was when WITH ANTICIPATION beat DENON back in 2002. Here’s a YouTube video replay of that exciting race.

As for this year’s race, I think EXPANSION is primed to win, but GRASSY is my long shot play.  I’ll have them both in the exacta.

Should be a great race to watch and wager.  Good luck!

Thanks for the props Steve! I think Marsh Side could have some say in the Sword Dancer as well as Expansion.

    Steverino,

Who woulda thunk EXPANSION would go favored? I had AL KAHLI, who looked strong for 11f, but he just couldn’t last the 12th furlong.

Back from vacation, will get back to you soon.

    Brian,
You were right that the Sword Dancer was a wide open race. Evidently, TELLING loves Saratoga – 2 for 2.

    Amcap,
I thought EXPANSION had a good shot, especially with Chad Brown and Javier Castellano having a good meet. However, he wasn’t playable at 9-5 in a fairly wide open race.
