Regal Ransom and Blame were bet down to 6-5 and 2-1 from their morning line odds of 5-2 and 7-2. Turns out many others were also skeptical of Soul Warrior as he went off at 9-2; nowhere near the optimistic morning line of 2-1. I relished the chance to get 5-2 on Regal Ransom but suspected all along it was too good to be true.
The 2-1 odds on Blame thankfully kept me away and I played Regal Ransom instead; the $20 win bet paid $46.00. Soul Warrior and our two bombs, Electric Alphabet and Uno Mas, failed to finish 3rd so I missed the trifecta. However, the $10 Regal Ransom, Blame (4,5) exacta box paid $71.00 on a $20 total bet; essentially a 5-2 return. A $17.00 net profit is nothing to blog about, but I’ll take it anyway.

The Super Derby was also the first race I made money on BLAME; I had the REGAL RANSOM / BLAME exacta for a modest profit. [...]
